    Great location

arrived at the side entrance and wasn't happy with first impression, but seeing the pool and bar area we were happier, reception staff were helpful and when contacting them for more bed linen etc, they always provided them rooms were basic but clean. The appartments are situated just behind the harbour part of Puerto Del Carmen in the "old town" which is very picturesque request a first floor room and you have a loveley sea view and private balcony . One draw back is the icy pool. Would definately go back

    Not as good as expected

We travelled over there with 2 young children ages 2 and 3, the pool was too deep and there was no baby pool, only a pool for over 3 yr olds. food in complex was not nice, did not cater very well for children.

No family entertainment on complex, i was expecting a kiddies night, discos etc but there was nothing for them.

    Value for money

Just back from a week in the Aparthotel Aquarius with my wife. The hotel is very convenient to the old town of Puerto Del Carmen ( 5 mins walk ) where there is no shortage of bars and restaurants. The apartment was ok and we had a cooker, microwave, kettle, and plenty of cutlery pots/pans etc ( although all were unused by ourselves ). The apartments have a separate bedroom with twin beds but I found the matresses a bit uncomfortable. The bathroom is also separate and fairly basic with a bath/shower. In the seating area there was a TV but we appeared to have no reception, not a problem for us as we had no interest in looking at it. There is no air con. in the apartments but there is a ceiling fan above the beds and seating area. Breakfast was included in our deal and there is something there for everyone ( cereals, cold meats, cheeses, bread, yoghurt, fruit and fried/scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, juices, tea, coffee etc ). All the apartments appear to have a bit of a sea view but the best views would be on the upper levels and above the reception area, but the higher up you go then the more steps you need to negotiate and this could be a problem for some. Our beds were made every day and clean towels supplied. The pool is large and clean with a lots of room for loungers and these were comfortable and not the hard plastic type. The main pool would not suit non swimmers as the depth is from 1.75 to 2.0 metres, but good for swimmers as it is a good size. There is a separate kids pool and there is a lifeguard on duty all day. The poolside bar is well stocked and snacks are available. To summarise, good location for old town, basic apartment but good pool area, for the price I couldn't complain.

    1* is too generous!!!!!

We booked this via our timeshare - waste of our time. we were told it is 3* (not a problem as we wanted a cheap week away) - on arrival we saw the 1* sign on the hotel. And I would question if it even deserved a 1* rating!!! Pool was filthy (paint peeled off, dirt, flies etc floating and at the botton), I would not even let my dog swim in it!!! Then they closed the pool and drained it (without warning). Painting and maintenence work was going on (all workmen singing shouting loud banging at 8am) - again no warning!! Staff were very pleasant, although it seems to be a German hotel (even bingo was in german!!). Area around hotel is excellent, mostly spanish on holiday no lager louts and only the odd irish bar. Sa miguel bar is great on weekends and the steakhouse is amazing for both steak and seafood!!

WE booked these apartments as a last minute deal on the THOMAS COOK web site and were not let down. The apartments are well maintained and are cleaned out daily(apart from THURSDAYS AND SUNDAYS).There are however a few steps to the higher apartments but once you are up them it is mainly flat. All the rooms have sea views and are well equipped with electrical microwave, toaster, kettle etc.The old town is 2 mins away with plenty of nice restaurants and some nice bars. The new town is 10 mins with plenty of night life and restaurants aswell. All in all something for everyone.Would definately go again to same place

    Puerto del Rosario

I decided a night in Puerto del Rosario might be good for a change of scene and I had an early flight in the morning. I probably should have listened more to what I'd been told, it's more industrial and not so enjoyable. Still it was a transit stop that helped me get to the airport in plenty of time, the bus being much more efficient than I'd expected.

Landing at the airport I quickly found that they only had one ATM and it was out of order and there was nowhere to exchange cash. So rather than getting the bus I was lumped with a taxi.

It was a small bump in what was a chilled five days in the little town of Corralejo in the north of Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands. It's a kiteboarding and surfing paradise so not quite my cup of tea but I really enjoyed the laid back vibe ...

... for the return bus, so find a spot in the sun and a necessary chocolate brownie/birthday cake. The bus driver tells us how the law states that no high-rise buildings can be built in Lanzarote, except for one, a 17-story 5 star hotel on the beach front (built when the mayor was out of town).

This afternoon we made our own sangria concoction, composed of a cheap bottle of rioja, cask of pre-mixed sangria ...

... the beach. After a slow wander home, we made our way to Playa del Carmen for my birthday night out. Its an hour long bus ride, but a great way to see some of the island. We find a small restaurant overlooking the ocean for dinner, and I'm quite proud get ashamed to say, that we scoffed the most amazing meat platter - family size - 2 pork chops, 4 chicken breasts, 3 small steaks, 2 pork belly and 2 large steaks! YUM! All topped off with a jug of their finest sangria. The meat plate ...
