Walked into town and had my haircut. A great feeling to have it cut after so long. Then to the bakery to say hi to Eva. We went for a walk in the afternoon to the Makkum beach and a quiet beer. Then a nice evening and dinner in a very old restaurant by the canal. It's great to live so close to walk to the shops restaurants beach harbour in a town with plenty interesting of ...

Today Gitta and Paula drove us over the big Afsluitdyke! I've been wanting to see this! We stopped at the monument and took in the views. There is a monument to the man Lely who was behind the dyke being built. The dyke is 7m above average sea level and about 30km long. Quite a lot of people driving and cycling across today. We stopped a bit further along to have our lunch on the dyke. Very nice. Next a drive down through Friesland to ...

... was indeed fast. It was twice as fast and Brian was required to put on a seatbelt since all passengers sitting on the isle with no seats in front of them were required to do so. OK, we didn't think it was fast enough to make that necessary but I guess in different sea conditions it may have been.

We had a nice little dinner at a restaurant recommended by Shere in the downtown area of Harlingen. I was able to enjoy it knowing that we didn't have to ...
