    Afternoon at the beach!

    Walked into town and had my haircut. A great feeling to have it cut after so long. Then to the bakery to say hi to Eva. We went for a walk in the afternoon to the Makkum beach and a quiet beer. Then a nice evening and dinner in a very old restaurant by the canal. It's great to live so close to walk to the shops restaurants beach harbour in a town with plenty interesting of ...

    Dinner at a restaurant with views over the Sas Bridge and control tower. Lights twinkling as the sun sets. Even at this late hour, the road is continually rising to let the shipping traffic through.

    I should mention that Paul had the local specialty, grilled eel, a massive amount of grilled eel. Did my bit by having a satay and loved every spicy peanutty mouthful.

    ... shelling, cracking, roasting, peeling and blending the kids all went. The results were quite delicious. Sarah also made a hazelnut cake with Paula which was very tasty.

    ... village of Workum to visit the art museum of a famous local artist Jopie Huisman. He was a self taught painter who liked to collect old things and paint them. Fantastic work. Then ice cream and a cuppa at the cafe:) We drove on to Lelystad to see the replica of the ship Batavia from the VOC (Dutch East India company). They have also started to build another tall ship there. Then the rain started to come down so off home we went. A great day ...

    All in all another great day in The Netherlands. Brian didn't even seem to mind that he didn't get to kite. He was definitely thinking about when he would go back and kite.
