... within a degree or two, from our intended next port, that of Shimrishamn, about 32 miles to the south west. Given that CW doesn’t point that well, in fact few boats do, our normal practice in these situations if we move at all, is to motor-sail ie use the engine and the mainsail, this allows you to point much higher (nearer the wind) and with the sail pulling as well as the engine pushing, one can make reasonable (not good) progress upwind. We did actually get through, but at times the depth gauge was registering zero so of course, we proceeded very, very slowly and with me on the bow keeping a look out for even shallower water. Kristianopel is 29 miles from Kalmar and ...

... Sunday morning so nothing was open. We visited the Fredirk Church, which is Lutheran and we listened to some of the service. The church was beautiful and so was the music. It was very much like a Catholic Mass. We returned to the ship around 1:00 PM and after lunch we sat around the pool. I walked the track again. The weather was wonderful. We watched our sailing from both decks of the ...

Today we went to Karlskrona because the weather forecast wasn't that good, so we decided not to hire a kayak or canoe. We went to the Marinemuseum and we went to the Stortorget to get a nice icecream. The icecream waffles are selfmade. The icecream was so big we only ate some soup as ...
