Kolga tee 22a Otepaa, Estonia, 67405, 372-76-69600
... table with three different kinds of ham, cheese, bread, rice crackers, butter, boiled eggs, cottage cheese, jam, cereals, tomatoes and cucumbers, orange and apple juice, some porridge which tasted a little weird, tea and coffee. The breakfast was good and we we're ready for our longest daily trip during our journey - from Otepää to Valga, the city located right on the border between Estonia and Latvia.
... rental and lift tickets, and this supposedly the last weekend of "snowy winter" for Estonia. I'm not sure if I believe that or not, but I guess we'll see. Skiing was wonderful, though, even if the slopes weren't exactly steep. I did my fair share of falling - after all, it's been about 4 years since I actually used skis...my airboarding adventure 2 years ago replaced skiing at the time. My last few runs were successful, though, and all-in-all it was a great time. Today (Saturday) was ...
Otepaa, Estonia luggage06z... note. I love the coat check system here. Basically, every restaurant and major building that doesn't have coat stands handy will instead have a separate room with a ton of hooks and space for coats, jackets, scarves, bags, and other things of all sizes. They give you a little plastic tag with a number on it, and then when you leave, you trade the tag for your items and you're done. It's so great and saves a lot of time and hassle, especially at clubs and restaurants ...
Helsinki, Finland luggage06z... stopped by and carried on south to the town of Tartu, so Karen could get her hair repaired after Brad's hair chopping debacle. But.....we finally did get to see a moose...and pretty big and fat they are too. One happy Brad - tick! A lovely little town in itself, Brad had hours (yes, hours and hours) to spare and did ALL the tourist attractions while Karen sat with rolls of aluminium foil on her head, reading English ...
Tartu, Estonia roamingmonk... one of our favorites in town. Tartu is a great place...as far as I'm concerned a well-hidden secret of interesting places to see and eat in. At dinner we had a discussion about the calendar, the history of the Julian, Gregorian and Hebrew calendars. Jim is quite knowledgeable on the subject and it was interesting to hear what he had to say. The city of Tartu has been a wonderful place for a Feast site. We have really enjoyed having the United ...
Tartu, Estonia victorkubik... has significant meaning. Actaully, it is quite useful to track how our material gets distributed and who responds to what. Then some of the envelopes receive Bible Study courses which have to be the correct number in sequence. Then each of the Russian-speaking ONLY countries must receive their lessons, but all the mailings have to be sorted by the different weights and countries. At first it seems daunting, but this is my second time through this and lots is coming back. In ...
Tartu, Estonia victorkubik... in the morning, with only 4 changes of clothes this is something that I have to do every 3 days or so. I spend the afternoon at the Estonian national museum which is apparently one of Estonia's best. It's like no other national museum I've been to, there is no real dates or personalities, nothing much about which countries they beat up or beat them up. This is because Estonia was never it's on state until the last ...
Tartu, Estonia markprendergastToday, I found myself in Riga. It had not been my intention to get there until Wednesday or Thursday, but when a Russian mob-looking Lithuanian businessman offers you a free ride to the Latvian capital in his mafia-mobile, you don't say no. And so it was that at 7:30 this morning, I was whizzing through the Estonian countryside at 140 clicks, listening to Baltic pop, including "Pretty Woman" and "I Need You Baby"...in Lithuanian, of course. For the ...
Otepaa, Estonia kally563... tried to meditate (after that hike, I needed energy!), but I'm not sure a Red Bull wouldn't have been as effective. On the opposite side of town, I visited Otepaa's 17th century church where, in 1884, the Estonian Student's Society consecrated the blue, black, and white flag that in 1920 would become the national flag. The blue in the flag symbolized faithfulness and hope for the future. Black is for Estonia's rich soil and a reminder of its ...
