... After the soup the entertainment began-four local musicians who played Czech folk songs, renaissance songs, Slovak tunes, American blues and folk songs. It was a great addition to a traditional Czech dinner of roast pork and rice. We were charged to guess the ages and occupations of the musicians-our table came the closest and we won the prizr of a CD. It was a joyful evening, and we all walked home with smiles on our faces.

We love this resort so much that we decided to stay another day and night. The photos of Pocatky were taken from a 16th. century bell tower. We were inside at 12 noon but the bells didn't ring. Thank goodness.

Photo of the time keeper's "nest" are included.

    We both had massages today.

Left our Prague apartment this morning and drove to this fitness resort. Foot massage for 2 (that's people not feet) at 6 PM. Horseback riding at 10 AM, full body massage at 2 and Jacuzzi at 7:30 tomorrow. We should really be relaxed by Tuesday!!

    Great weather, great time.

... 1 hour later and about 30 elderly people appeared out of nowhere. It was modern, large, air-conditioned (still rather rare on Czech Rail) single carriage train. But after a short 35 minutes we get to Telc, I can tell you it was worth the trip.

There are two parts to the town, the old town (11-12th century) and the (marginally newer 15th century) town square and castle where we are staying. Telc is set amongst a series of lakes or ponds ...

We started the day collecting Fiona from her hotel. W had to make a detour as there was a May Day parade on in the city.
We drove to a castle they wanted to see then went on a brilliant drive through beautiful countryside with vast meadows of dandelions, woods of Christmas trees and big farm houses.
To cross the Danube river we had to go on a ferry. We went into a new country, the Czech republic. ...
