    ... men to finish it and it took 38 years! After touring the church, we got the rental (Mercedes!) and drove 1.5 hours to a town near the start of the Mosel river. Tomorrow we will visit a castle and some small, German towns. It's warm and muggy today but sunny. We ate a delicious German lunch and a yummy Italian dinner! Go figure. Cheers to all in ...

    ... never to go on that kind of tour, no matter how decrepit we become. We have enough independence in us to resist such a tour. It sounded ghastly.     ... in we head over the bridge covered in padlocks to visit the cathedral. It must have been one of the few buildings to remain after Cologne was heavily bombed.

    Tonight we had German wines of course. Doesn't everyone when they are in Germany?

    After dinner our tour guide took about 100 of us into the town of Koblenz for a short and interesting walking tour. We were all wired up with our own radio receivers so it was easy to hear the commentary as we walked. It is a 2000 year old cobbled stoned city and very charming.
