... and a keep (for the royal family to live in). The keep goes up several stories, as well as having a massive basement underneath. They had to have enough food to keep the entire castle alive during a siege, so the basement storage really is enormous. ... a do not disturb sign on the door for 48hrs, that’s a caring front office team! Despite the best
intentions to make it out to the Black Forest, we failed miserably due to the late nights, so will have to save that for a return visit. We’re actually facing the prospect of arriving in Munich a little beered out…. Oh, and Freiburg is a lovely town btw.

... in the Lonely Planet was the highest waterfall in Germany - a short walk from the town centre - but with an admission of 5 Euro to take the walk, we saved our cash for the Black Forest cake (which didn't look quite like Eric had imagined). Any natural feature in Germany doesn’t come close to what we are used to so better we eat the cake instead!
