Today was the last day of the Backroads adventure and ended with a short/relaxing ride prior to saying our goodbyes. After a nice breakfast we all got on our bikes for a ride through Bruges. In started so nice, beautiful morning, sun shining and all our group sticking together and riding as a true group of friends that we have become. Right as the ride started someone pointed out that my shoelace was untied. Since I switched to my gym shoes, forgot to double knot/tuck them in and did ...

Also on the tray is a wooden stick with a rich glob of dark chocolate on its end, and we are instructed to toss the chips ...

... former Dutch Plantation Frederiksdorp - Fort New Amsterdam - the old sugar factory of Mariënburg - Domburg (with its cosy market place) and the former plantations of La Rencontre and Laarwijk ( Laarwijk is to be reached by korjaal from the little harbour of Domburg; you might want to ask the gardener Moon of Surinat Resort in Domburg to be your guide); excellent hiking trails in and around Domburg for birding and for enjoying the rainforest that has taken ...

... destroyed all its bridges, the area between the cathedral
and the quais, and much of the industrial quarter. The riverside area
has never been adequately restored, and what you might expect to be the
most beautiful part of the city is in fact something of an abomination.

And it goes on! So we settled on Bruges, just over the border in Belgium. We spent a fantastic 3 days wandering the streets of the gorgeous cobbled city, getting to know all the sights. ...
