Day 23 (Amsterdam)

A travel blog entry by marcohj on Jun 01, 2014

... very refreshing to have another friend. After that we went for a long walk through vondelpark again; the sun was shining and dozens of groups of people were having barbecues etc. On our way there this guy on a bike yelled out to me 'ja two girls one boy ja!' Which Lia predicted would happen. We sat by a lake and watched the ducks for a long time (nothing is more fun) and taking in the sun. After that we walked back to ...

... it was time for Van Gogh. Skipping the still huge line, we made our way into the museum, greeted by some thumping club tunes and a lively atmosphere, art after dark? ... Moni, had a BBQ waiting for us. Serendipitously, our hotel is close to Thomas' house near the Museum Quarter. Great night; learned that the first word you should learn in Dutch is "lekker" which means, "nice!" in English. Has worked well for me thus far. Today, (Monday 8/12) we went to the Meltwater office in Amsterdam and had lunch with Nynke and Jerome, two colleagues of ours at Meltwater. I had a goat cheese salad lunch and realized ...

Finding the beach in Holland

... Haag. We took a tram to Scheveningen and discovered the beach. It was a breezy cool day but we found what we would call the boardwalk and walked around for awhile. We had some time to kill before dinner. It was a nice boardwalk that we found out is completely taken down in the winter. All the building are folded up and stored even the boardwalk when winter comes. ...
