Kind of like Coney island
... than Amsterdam but very unique and a really nice place to stroll.
We found a playround and a Dutch bully (he was about 3) I guess there everywhere. At this point it would be a perfect time to just be back in Amsterdam, however we had to hoof it to the station and then do the train and tram. Aaron picked up some Thai take out for dinner and it was really good. I figure it isn't much of a vacation if you have to cook and clean all the time.

Ordering fodder was a bit of an ordeal. The cafe owner dragged out a young lad who had "good english" (I reckoned he had only watched a couple of soccer matches on Sky Sports once...cos his english was worse than ours like!!!) Some of the boys gave up trying to figure out what the entirely dutch printed menus contained & just got burgers, but thicko here insisted on trying to communicate with this poor young lad. Day 1 from our home to Madeira
... we made reservations for diner at 7 pm so that we could get a decent sleep as tomorrow we would start with our first Levada walk in the afternoon.
Diner was a 4 course one and we added a nice bottle of white wine as we chose fish for our main course, it was a very good diner and afterwards we quickly slumbered away into a deep sleep

On the social front, one of the Corp Fundraising team at AMREF Neths team kindly invited me for a Sunday outing. It was a woodwork exhibition in a rather lovely Fort somewhere I can't pronounce. Beautiful sunny day, if a bit nippy.
