Riding the bicycle path through the sand dunes to The Haag was fantastic. The 20km ride was very busy with cyclists, walkers and joggers.

The Meneer Chocola cafe in the little village of Scheveningen delivered a wonderful afternoon tea before checking into our hotel on the beach.

We arrived in Amsterdam on Thursday evening. We made it on the bus to our host's home and went out for a quick falafel sandwich and Heineken! Our host, Sam, is great, and his Pomeranian, Princess, is so sweet. Our room is in the perfect location in the middle of everything. ... was really well organised. Unlike other churches I've visited, this one charged an entry fee and gave out audio guides. The guides on the history of the church were fantastic. While it is still used for mass and royal functions (and they do love their royals here) the church gets used for a lot of different functions, fashion shows, exhibitions, etc. I think that's a really clever way of keeping the church involved in the community.

... really good! We sat on the canal and ate them, which was really fun. Then we decided to head into a bar to watch the World Cup final game. They don't get very rowdy here, even for yesterday's game where they won 3rd place. The Italians were getting more fired up about blocking a goal in early games than Amsterdam did about scoring or winning 3rd! Orange is their color so there's a ton of orange everywhere here (Scott - you'd love ...
