... so we stayed in while Tom and Mom went to the Uffizi and Dad went to a market. We all went out to a dinner that was FANTASTIC, and possibly had too much wine. Afterward, Tom bought some Absinthe for a party back at our place, and we all drank and played music and sang and had so much fun! We laughed a whole lot! ... beer. I love fresh Italian pasta! Today it was pasta with mushrooms… great!

After lunch we returned to the ship, and I continued my explorations. It's amazing how much space there is on this ship. I then made my birthday calls home to my mother and sister, and then took a siesta….

Tonight we are meeting for drinks in the Martini Bar, and then dinner at the Grand Cuvee…. And who knows after that!

... by the beauty that is Italy. We made our way to Monterosso, the little town a few minutes from Vernazza by train. We were going to hike it, but were told that the hiking trail was closed because of mudslides so we just took the train. Had we known the truth (it’s actually open, but there’s no one there to take the fee). That was the last beautiful day we would have until we left, but we didn’t know that then, of course.

... was fresh made pasta with pesto sauce (this region is known for focaccia and pesto) which was delicious, followed by a caprese salad with buffalo milk mozzarella which was also delicious and fresh. At this restaurant, everyone's meal is followed by a bottle a free liquor, and we got limoncino which is a traditional Italian after-dinner drink. We arrived at the train station at 3.45pm to read a sign saying we had a choice of walking up 368 steps or paying 1.50 euro to catch the bus. We went with the bus!
