      Typical Italian breakfast at hotel then train to Riomaggiore. 2.60€ Hotel guy gave me name of friend with what turned out to be a bnb at 99 via Xxxxx called Il Boma. 70e per night( looked at website later which quotes 60e) Run by Maddy - American lady married to Italian.       ... closed off and we wouldn't be able to do it unless we wanted to go inland. We decided to wait to do the hike with Josef and in the meantime go figure out the tickets for the ferry and get hiking passes. We went to the ferry kiosk and were told we couldn't buy tickets until the day of and then went to the train station for the hiking passes.       ... beautiful with photos displayed of the 2011 floods which decimated most of the whole area. The track between Vernazza and Corniglia was closed as a result so we used the train to skip ahead.

      Corniglia is set higher than the other four and the hike up from the train station allowed us to get a taste for what was to come. Of course we had to eat lunch and went with another pizza and ice cream for desert. Didn't feel guilty though because the track to Manarola was pretty steep ...
