We had a chilled weekend and this evening we went for a walk down on the local beach and took some more photos back up to the village in which we are staying. Years ago it was a major venue for mass bridge tournaments so it is called the "Villagio Dei Bridge" - but now it has a few full time residents, but most of the apartments are either holiday homes or no longer used. ... As you can see from the map we are on the edge of a national park, so the scenery around us is fantastic, and not what we expected. We headed North, on what can only be described as a "James Bond" type road - lots of wiggles, tunnels, and the obligatory Italian driver overtaking at every opportunity. ... asked, in German, as this seemed to be our easiest joint language, if we wanted to stay 2 nights as booked; we decided to stay just one night as the area is pretty small with little to keep us entertained for longer! We checked can on the map and decided to see if we could book into the next hotel a day earlier........and we could!

... over the train journey but it transpired that rather like the UK there were engineering works on the line just outside Taranto. It meant getting off the stop before and climbing on board a bus. It was only a 10 minute ride and our connection wasn't for an hour so we had plenty of time.
