    ... of Bruges -not our intended destination . Invoking rules 1 to 5 re driving in medieval cities as well as breaking most of them as we eventually ditched the car , found the hotel and set off for a Cook's tour of the city , packed with tourists it's one of those places deservedly popular because it is so gorgeous . We did the obligatory boat cruise on the canal , saw the chocolate museum and finished up at Canbrinus a bar / restaurant with 400 Belgian beers on its list. Belgium ...

    When I returned from the last trip the Dunlop front tyre was strangely triangular in shape, I guess from all that time running at 45 degrees on the tournanti of the Alps. The initial feel of the Contis is good. We'll see how they manage the miles.

    500 miles drive back to Calais today......
    Left the site at Issoire at 7 and left the motorway north of Orleans at 10:30. Bit more traffic and the detour around Rouen but we got to the site at Calais after a lunch stop and a coffee break for 4:00. Little tent up in 20 mins, quick beer then off to the new pool for a dip then curry for tea. ...
