... crevettes (shrimps to us plebs). Then round the harbour at La Rochelle before arriving at Marsilly overlooking the sea for our first camping overlooking the sunset across the sea; and our first oysters. All in all a very good day. Bon soir. Ps we passed the 1000 mile mark 2 miles before our campsite this ...

Sunday here. This past summer as I was researching things I could do
in La Rochelle and Rochefort, I came across boat trips to nearby
islands, so when I arrived in Rochefort I headed over to the tourist
office and loaded up on brochures! Of course I had one particular
brochure in mind and I found it, the day cruise to ile d’aix ...

... way of live, maybe sipping a bottle of wine and watching the world go by, but alas we were taking cover wherever possible to escape the rain. Fortunately the city planners have built lots of arcaded streets to shelter from the sun (and the rain I am sure) but with it being a Monday, which to the French is a bit like a half hearted Sunday with most shops remaining closed, the streets were not full of expectant shoppers either. It was ...
