Lost in Normandy

More French pressure was to that follow evening when we found ourselves at an even larger family BBQ. The company chatting politics, smoking and joking. It was like a family scene in a French film. Courage, Devotion, and Sacrifice

It was all about the history of the Rangers being formed for operation Overlord Assault (the code name for Normandy) and an hour by hour account of their attack on Normandy. We then watched a movie about their attack on Pointe du Hoc and the losses they occurred on that day abysmal day. The Rangers went in with 225 men and by the end of the day only 90 soldiers were able to continue fighting.

Bayeux
... 20 minutes to see it and hear the story through an audioguide. We saw a short movie after that and kinda went through the exhibit. As always to get the exit of a museum you are sent through the gift shop. I bought Mati a book about the tapestry as he is really interested in it and the story it tells.
