... the French flags. We learned later that Canadian regiments liberated Normandy and the surrounding areas. Clearly the French are still grateful. It was very touching.

We visited the Juno Beach Centre. It's a Canadian owned and Canadian operated museum right on Juno Beach. The museum was very informative, and also played a pretty heart wrenching video when you are done. Once you exit the museum, there are remains ...

What we did discover on arrival on the aire which, until yesterday, we didn't know existed, was that very close by there are a couple of war memorials plus the German command bunker. We've decided that we'll stay a couple of days and explore. We have a lovely sunny day again today and the mifi is still working, so today is a bonus day! Ken and ...

... It is interesting just to see them communicate and I now know more of what they are saying. I am slowly picking up words! Now, if you ask me to say them, it is hopeless. I decided to do something different today. I signed up for the Tour de Normandie, a competitive race between me, myself, and I. The race involved going to the little village of Ouistreham on the coast. It also happens to be the location of Sword Beach, one of the British Invasion beaches! I had to ...

... we sunbathed the whole way across – what a difference to our crossing 3 weeks ago.

The 5 hour trip passed really quickly and it was good to see Portsmouth in the sun this time rather than the grey of the way out. We were about to start a completely different part of our holiday: Goodwood, family & friends, but we had loved our stay in France and will return ...
