... won't be true if they come from Ballarat. Lyon is supposed to be famous for its food. We chose a restaurant in a small square. I have Liffe beer. I haven't had this before. It is made in an abbey in Belgium by monks. I like it. Issy peels the label off the bottle so she can keep it and we can remember the name. The waiter gives her a strange look. Day 45

It is hot! Today we spent visiting Lyon's Unesco-listed old town. We took the funicular up to the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere and walked down through the gardens and narrow stairways. Following lunch, we visited the Musee de la Resistance and then walked home by the river. In hindsight, we should have done the last bit on the bike. But we did not.

... beautiful at first and then you are very aware of it being the next day. Aware that there is a train to catch and sleep to be had. We caught an early tram to our stop and walked up the hill to our hostel. The three and a half hours sleep was bitter sweet. We had to check out of our room by 10 which was painful.
