... with only about 3 hours driving..lol Farewell France..again. I can't say I will miss the scenery since leaving 'Chambury'. Majority of the drive had been long roads starting with vast areas of vineyards followed by vast areas of farm land with few dotted villages. I would like to say I'll be back again one day and not just for the arriving in and out of Calais. We have seen a lot of France but there is still so much we have missed and a return to Paris is top of my ...

I am sure that there are hardy souls who climb them and since they do not appear particularly technical, I am sure that Shar and I could do it but WOW! Drove to Argentieres which is further down the valley from Chamonix, and caught the cable car lift up the mountain (1900 m) – our starting place for our hike called 'Point De Vue’ – up to the edge of the Argentiers glacier. Descriptions of the walk compared it to the Mer de Glace glacier we went to on Monday ...

... Savioe Region is truly beautiful - home of the Rebluchon cheese and the Montbeliate cow.

I feel alive, I feel alive I sang as pedaling along, the villages had running water that was portable so we could fill our bottles and drink to our hearts content – oh I love this part of France. There are loads of cycle routes all of varying difficulties mainly red or black – meaning fit or athletic!! We had a mixture of the ...

Chamonix is only 14kms from the Swiss border and although deciding against going to Geneva, we wanted to see a bit of Switzerland. We drove up the valley from Chamonix to Argentiere and Vallorcine in France to Trient and La Forclaz at the top of the mountain pass looking down the valleys and open lands of Switzerland. We decided not to go to Martigny. We are aware that if we move onto ...
