... to make most of the remaining afternoon before finding somewhere for the night. After having lunch me and Rich headed to the grassy stoney beach just down from where we were to join all the people swimming and sun bathing. Jan and Chris sat on a wall by the camper to watch as the idea of getting into cold water wasn't appealing to them. Had the following incident not occurred they may have changed their mind as it was getting quite warm sitting in the sun and a nice swim ...

Soaked up the mild conditions and great view for a while before I headed off for a shower while Mitch cooked up our much anticipated spaetzle dinner - It was a gastronomique masterpiece! Way up in the mountains you would think you would feel isolated - not in France there are small villages ...

... we will have to pay a one off Swiss tax of over 40 euros and also do not have our passports on us. We have travelled just 9 Kms into Switzerland but far enough to see the cow bells, the cuckoo clocks and the Swiss chalets. Coming back to Chamonix we see amazing mountain scenery going through these villages. Later that day we go to La Houche and explore other areas around ...

... between 12-2.30pm. Eventually find one at the cost of 29 euros so begin the process of uploading photos to our blog. Chamonix is a very interesting town especially the people who are in it. It is 90 percent of people in their 20s and 30s with a smattering of older couples. It is a bit like the outdoor version of Les Mills - nearly everybody walks around with figure hugging outdoor wear. There must be 30 different outdoor clothing stores ...
