Up, up and away was in fact quite accurate as we headed up to the high plains and also headed North. A bit of a bumpy trip to Motril and then on the main route passing Granada, Madrid and on to Biarritz. The ascent of man and woman up into the Sierra Nevada was spectacular as we left Motril at sea level eventually reaching about a 1000 metres with early snow on the high tops. We had a quiet week in Monflanquin, then drove to Biarritz to meet Irfhan's cousin, Nilufer, and her husband Stephan and their two sons, Adam and Benjamin, who drove down from London to meet us. As soon as we saw the ocean I was sold. Although the countryside in the Aquitaine region of France is absolutely beautiful, I realized how much I missed the ocean when we arrived in Biarritz.

... to the top of the newer part of the village where we ate a wonderful scroll before tackling the next col; col de Sarenne at 1999m. Pretty hard getting up but beautiful scenery followed when descending to Clavans. Surface pretty patchy and i had to hang on the brakes the whole way. Pretty tiring.
