... and one particular woman with a body not dissimilar from the model in Lucian Freud's "Benefits Supervisor Sleeping" painting. Beautiful torquoise waters and a transplanted Londoner who helped us to a few rounds remedied my frazzled nerves. After soaking the sun for a few hours, we braved the cold waters. We did not however brave the nude beach...this time.

... br> Reaching Evian, we motored on a meandering lakeside road with views over Lake Leman of the stunning Swiss mountains and the unbelievable sight of Mont Blanc. Heading for the car park underneath a supermarket, we collected our supplies of fresh food before walking around their famous market place and grabbing a snack lunch at one of the lovely restaurants.

He has to stumble at least 30m to get to the nearest pub and back, and to make matters even worse, he has at least another 6 others to choose from within 50m ...

... Lots of nice coves and beaches on the way, but we were particularly attracted to St Clair, just east of the big town of Le Lavandou. If you would like to explore this coast too, why not stay at the *** Roc Hotel, which is right on the beach.

Last stop today was the hill village of Bormes-les-Mimosas, which was full of coaches and gift shops, and we were not impressed.

Tomorrow, our last day here, we will explore the biggest city in the area, Toulon.
