... crowded restaurant where I had the most delusions chicken in cream truffle sauce topped off with marinated strawberries, ice cream and crushed meringue, John had a beautiful steak and chips. Once we got to the Eiffel we realised being a weekend the queues were long so we decided to come back tomorrow after we have booked on-line which means we can jump to the front ...

... and it’s great to see their resurgence.

I also saw the Wallabies’ result against Argentina, a very sad affair. The only compensation is that the All Blacks got beaten as well!

Then we washed it down with Gruyere's famous double cream and raspberries. Say no more! After lunch we toured the castle - took us 70 minutes and it was fascinating. Built in the 1500's it has lovely gardens, a tower you can climb (vertigo), many rooms with period furnishings and museum artifacts, ...

Day 2 TMB A much longer day today and I'm pretty shattered now. It was still overcast this morning but the cloud was high so Louise and I decided to take an alternative route rather than the main one. We were joined by Zoe and Caroline from Scotland. The walking was a lot more rugged with lots of boulder clambering and narrow pathways. We got awesome views of the Trient glacier and stopped at the cosy little Refuge le Grand - this was a really little mountain ...
