... evening we had a super night with Cousin Dan and Sheila in their very nice village of Scotch Corner (I think a population of 350). After very sad good byes we are now back in Chamonix. It's always hard leaving Aunty Chris and Neville. Interesting for us, Chamonix felt like "coming home". The snow is further down the mountain, the trees are all golden and we are now off to watch NZ v Australia in the Grand Final. Go the Mighty All Blacks. ...

Later in the afternoon we went for a walk through the vineyards of the village, enjoying the views of both the Jura on one side and the Alps on the other. Everyone took great pleasure in being together and feeling the unity of people of shared faith.

Back at the house we sat in the garden enjoying the cool late-afternoon ...

... the drive through this region. We passed through villages with rustic names such as Champignole and Morillon with fromageries galore. More often than not, Claudia was in a low gear as the inclines got steeper and steeper, and the scenery more and more dramatic. Slowly, slowly we made our way to the Swiss border, and then suddenly, without fanfare - and even without showing passports - we entered Switzerland at Les Rousses. From there, it was a short drive to Arzier where ...
