... br> It was pretty cool to see the bullet train because you hear so much about it. As we left Tokyo and went through the suburbs you could see why there were so many people in the city. There were houses and apartments everywhere and not alot of open space left.

Once we left the housing areas the train sped up and i fell asleep (traincalepsy...bit like carcalepsy but on a train!!) and didn't wake up until we arrived in Yuzawa.

We exited Minakami station amid a blizzard. It added to the excitement of finally being here. We were now in central Japan- the sea equidistant in all directions and it felt much further from Tokyo that it really was, about 150km to the north. The three hour journey had taken us from a busy 21st cetrury metropolis to a silent, snowy, desolate station town. A man holding a laminated sheet emerged forward through the snow.
