Served in our rooms, our dinner consisted of a whole skewered river fish, an iced box of Sashimi, meat and vegetables for Tsukiyaki, bear soup, various pickles, rice and lots of other small portions. The tray came with hot charcoals and a bowl of boiling water. Cooking dinner yourself in restaurants has been a recurrent theme of eating out in Japan. I like it, it offer an interactive element to eating. It was delicious, kneeling on ...

Caught train from Tokyo to Nagano station. Took 1 hour and a half. Then took local train to togironozawa onsen which took at hour. As we go deeper into the mountains the snow gets thicker and excitement grows. The magic of snow is reflected in some school kids eyes who are I am guessing on a school camp. Although I can not understand what they are saying their smiles, laughter and eager stares out the window show that the snow is exciting not ...
