      ... and all was good. They had been doing a little shopping for our return journey to Sapporo.

      Some of the kids were kind enough to give up their seats for us for the 30 minute trip Asahikawa. Lyn, Narelle and I were in the seat next to and opposite a young man.       ... decks and windows to be able to see the animals very close or almost being in the middle of them. Unfortunately the animals were held alone, without pairs or groups, most of them mentally switched off, doing there endless rounds to have at least some escape from theri boredome.

      Sad to see that this type of zoos still exist, we have zoos as well but very modern with motivated animals

      Unfortunately the weather changed to become overcast and scattered rains. So we step out at Sapporo - the 1972 winter olymic game host city - and explored the botanical garden.

      ... first imagined......our toes fingers and toes had gone numb, but we ventured forth.... then one of my snow shows broke....this was not going to be fun :-/......in an effort to explain my predicament i stepped forward and sunk past my waist....Ok so we need to go back....I McGuyvered the shiz-nizel out of my snow shoe as we ventured straight down through the snowdrift toward the chairlift...not realising as neither of us had been skiing that chairlifts go ...
