Day 6: Marseille
... staring out at the sea, surrounded by rocky walls. If course, we had to run down and touch the icy Mediterranean for the first time. The biting wind whipped us like a thousand boxing blows, laced with a chill, but that didn't stop us from hiking up to the top off the cliffs for some phenomenal views. The Winds of Toulon
... it docks in the town of La Seyne sur Mer which is across the harbor from Toulon. So, in order to get into town, we had the option of taking a cab which would take about 45 minutes, taking a ferry boat organized by Celebrity for $15.00 roundtrip, or take the public ferry from La Seyne into Toulon for approximately $3.00 each way. We opted for the later.

... for about 30 minutes and then another 40 on the bus ride. Turns out they were from Boston, the gentleman had just retired and so they were touring around France for 3 months. The woman had lived near Nice as a child for a couple years so it was kind of like coming home. ALSO, they had two children who were adopted from Korea! I don't know about you all, but I don't meet many people with kids who are adopted, so when that was revealed we had so much more to talk about. ...
OK place - bad time to go
We missed the summer lavender fields. If you really dig modern painting, Aix-en-Provence may hold some charm. Not a bad town, just nothing really spectacular.
Nancy liked the shopping in the old town during the market day.
