        ... if we were simply guests of a local family. Communication was difficult but rewarding. The beautiful location added to an authentic French country experience.

        Sadly our stomachs turned from flutters to groans as all food outlets including supermarkets were closed......not sure I can face bread and cheese again for a while.

        I think the Pyrenees are calling.....

        Apparently we had 12 inches of rain overnight and the river has totally changed colour to a rather muddy hue! There is a fault with one of the bow thrusters and divers have to be brought up from Marseilles to deal with what is thought to be a snagged prop. Anyway we are off on our tour of Viviers which is another small medieval town of 4000 in the Ardeche region.         ... we set sail to Viviers, so a relaxing time until late afternoon when we were treated to a tasting of some of the lesser known French cheeses. We dined tonight in a small restaurant on board (L'Amour) and really enjoyed a 6 course tasting menu with of course the normal range of wines.         ... in an ingredient that we did not ask for and that neither of us liked; olives! Laura went through and plucked all of them off with a spoon and I smothered my slices with sauce pimentée and we ate the whole thing anyways. But still, I would have preferred an olive-free deep dish pizza.

        I am sorry it has been a little bit of time since my last post. And even longer since I have posted any photos. The internet issue has since passed, as I now have internet on my phone, and can either use that as a connection to my laptop, or use a hacked passcode to access a neighboring wifi… Neither are very effective with both giving me speeds of about 1 mbps but still, it is much better than the lack of connectivity that ...
