Had a lazy morning soaking up the sun. decided to spoil our selves and enjoy some vegemite and cheese toasties for brunch. This may seem basic but when living on a travelling budget this becomes luxury! Realising we were right on a coastal point with ocean either side of us, we went for a stroll around the area. By the time we took off it was mid afternoon, drove further along the coast before parking up for the night in Gemenos.

Stopped off in St Tropez a popular destination in summer, but for this time of year it was as if we owned the place. Wondered around the empty streets admiring the old buildings. Walked past rows of empty restaurants and could here the drillings ...

Toulon

So after breakfast and arrival at the port, we disembarked. There was a petit train waiting so for €6, we boarded for a tour of the town and apparently the naval base.... I wasn't too inspired by Toulon. It was fairly dull, like the weather... After the train tour, we decided to go for a wander and found a wee market but most of the vendors were closing already. We saw enough to enjoy ...

... celebrities go to. We didn't spot any but there were plenty of amazing launches just off the beach. It was nice to be able to lie on golden sand as not too many beaches in Europe have sand, it seems to be either jagged rocks, smooth pebbles or sand that is really more like dirt. The water was great. So clear, warm and the best part was you could swim out far from the shore line and not have to worry about sharks ...

After getting to know each other at the outside dining table over Rose wine, Champagne and very French hors d’ouerves (tins of duck Foie Gras wrapped in ham, olives and baguettes) the mistral (strong wind from the mountains)l chased us inside for dinner. We were treated to cold salad with white asparagus and tuna Foie Gras, duck Cassoulet, cheese and cheesecake. Wow. We were quite happily full as we toddled off to bed. ...
