Ausserbinn, Switzerland lesterenanne... with mattresses, and they let couch surfers stay up there. It was dark and eerie, but pretty hilarious. And definitely not something I would normally do, so it was cool to be out of my element and just let things come as they may. After we dropped our stuff off and had a few laughs about our living conditions we hit the road. We also had to wait around for one of our friends who, due to silly girl drama, decided to get to Interlaken two hours ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland chelseyineurope... and can distinguish between the the big 3 of Chinese, Japanese and Chinese by their spoken languages. And Middle Eastern because it´s pretty easy to notice women wearing full-length black burquas from head to toe and only showing their eyes. Though some only wear the head-piece. But they do tend to stick out considerably. Most of the Middle Eastern had family in tow and the Koreans were usually younger people on break from school.
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland travel_lover87... there is a barge with a serpent on it. The serpent is made up of all the items found in the river, quite an original idea.

Back on the road and down to Lucerne. It is another beautiful drive in the mountains and through tunnels. The GPS takes us right to the centre of town, which is the old area and where we want to be. We walk towards the river and the lake and come across two covered bridges and two regular bridges. We cross to ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland dancejill... farmers lead their cows through the valley towns up into the hills. The farmers take great pride in their livestock and traditionally the cows wear expensive hand painted bells around their necks. Some of the bells are huge and weigh up to 100 pounds and it is custom to display the bells of past years on the sides of the dairy barns. We got to see several of these. It was such an idyllic scene. Those cows have a great ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland mollyandmikeuk... where we had just come and had to go to the toilet for a prolonged period hence killing enough time to have a shower by myself but still had to get nuded up in front of everyone else getting dry and changed including my host, not comfortable! Lea also took me to St Gallen before I left them which I loved!! Cathedral took my breath away, old library was fascinating (even had a mummy from Egypt 700 BC, amazing! And very short) and place was those views you ...
Mattwil, Switzerland shazzasheila... we were given an interesting outlook on what it was like to have lived in the lower parts of the theater as it had served as a place of shelter. The dry toilets, for example, were quite the invention. There were ten steps to using the dry toilet, ending with sticking the, ah, filled paper bag on a high shelf, to be taken out later with the others. Somewhat gross, but also highly amusing. Unfortunately, we were unable to finish the play as by this point, we ...
Basel, Switzerland d.matheusik... made a very nervous jump, which saw him safely in the water. There were some not so terrifying times as well. For example, we conducted a belly-whacking competition - the winner receiving a red and stinging tummy! We also harnessed ourselves to a flying fox and practically flew deep into a ravine to continue our trudging; we also got to do a spot of abseiling between a treacherous gorge! At the last leg of the journey, we had a choice between doing ...

After dinner we returned to the hotel where Dr. Fegley, Nate, Emily, June, Dipal, and I sat in the bar/resturant downstairs having drinks and talking politics. Dr. Fegley had this creme colored liquor that smelled like liquorice. Dipal, Emily, and I had beer from the tap. Our arguments of politics involved mostly foreign policies of the US and of other countries. We argued wether or not it was necessary to intervene and how money affects countries.
Berne, Switzerland spitfyre... bench. During our pauses, I would sit on the bench, her head in my lap, while I would stroke her silky hair, smell the scent of her shampoo, feel the soft calm breeze coming off the lake. It was very tranquil and relaxing. Finally, at 3:00, she was tired. I was tired. It was time to go in. Jenna and her friends are waking up at 7AM to go to Engelberg for the day before heading back to France. When I rise tomorrow, she'll be gone. In the hallway, we said our ...
