Frankfurt to Paris at 320kms an hour

Well guys,
Another day another adventure. Yesterday was a tad rainy in Gruendau. We went to the garden with dad to pick and eat raspberries and blueberries and blackcurrents yuuuuummmm. We made sure the bes dad and Justin and Eric had picked up the other dy had settled into their new home, and they had, they were madly buzzing bout collecting pollen.

This morning we woke up to a foggy day and dad drove us to the station in Hanau, where we grew up a lifetime ago. We took a normal tra...

Jason, Mike and I arrived in Paris on July 30th at 2:30PM.. We checked in to Lion d'or. We walked around the city for ENDLESS hours. We wound up at the Eiffel Tower at 8PM. We walked the many stairs of the tower up the the 2nd level for a terrific overall view of Paris. On July 31st we went to the Louvre at 10AM. It was special to see the "Mona Lisa" with my own eyes. At 5PM we visited the Cathedral of Notre Dame. It was so impressive and we climbed the many stairs up a grueling circular sta...

At this class we also realized how very small the world is...we met 2 guys who where not only studying in berlin as well, but one goes to Ohio state. and Later I met a girl from K-state on my tour....who woulda thought.

Afterwards we met up with Kristin and headed to the Lourve, the giant museum. Evidently, if you were to look at every piece of art ...

Bonjour, Bonjour

... a beutiful deep blue with gold stars, i'm thinking of redecorating my room if i can get enough light in. Maybe I just need a 9m stained glass window? haha. It was then a short walk to Notre Dame (quite the day of churches apparantly) Which is very much bigger. After marvelling at that for a while we took a look at the line to climb to the top. By this stage it was still huge ...

Oh, looks like we can use two AAs....tried it and they worked. WHEW! I didn't want to have to not take pictures while we were here; who knows if we will ever get to come back? Anyway, we wandered all over 5e and my feet started hurting ...

... dinner and slept a lot. The next day we went to the mezqutia. I gotta say it was one of the weirdest places I have ever been. It was originally the main mosque in southern Spain when it was ruled by muslims. After the catholic kings conquested the area, they decided to basically renovate it into a church. The result is ridiculous. It was the epitome of a culture clash. It's literally like Jesus Christ chillin' next to Arab architecture and writing. It was cool though. After that we ...

Paris' dirty little secret

... just how much we hurt ourselves on the tower). We listed to part of the mass at Sacre Couer, while the foul weather raged outside and then took our chance on the way back down (firmly refusing all advances from any street sellers this time!) to head back to Notre Dame. Shopping in Paris was an experience...it was like Boxing Day everywhere. Insanely busy and expensive and bewildering. We went to Au Printemps ...

... to the biblical scenes is almost like a bonus for those who wish to appreciate them. As for the holy relic (because what would a cathedral be without one), we were instructed to look high above the main alter towards windows representing the Passion, this served as the backdrop for Jesus' Crown of Thorns, which is said to have been displayed here many years ago. The "original" is now housed in the Notre Dame Treasury, lit up on the first Friday of every month and Easter. We ...

OOH LA LA PARIS!

... beautiful and all of the stain glass windows were amazing. The place was choc o block full of people as a church service was about to take place. It was a very cool experience as there was a huge choir and their singing echoed throughout the church. We eneded up seeing many sights that day including: Arc de Triomphe, River Seine, Hotel de Ville, Champs Elysees, De la Concorde, fancy bridges, churches and old buildings. But the main thing for me was about to come-climbing the tower ...
