... co-operative selling local produce which was nice to wander round (not for the boys!) but shopping is always frustrating as we are so restricted on buying stuff because of weight and size - we did manage a wee pot of rhubarb jam tho! Orangina and ice-creams placated the boys and we returned to the gite for one final swim - with both Mum and I being very brave as well! BBQ for tea - and a good way to eat up the fridge. ...

... We managed a pit-stop of frites for lunch and were flagging in the heat by the afternoon. But just as we were wondering about a dip in the pool and water slides (we had brought our togs in case) the sky turned black, thunder and rain threatened. At one point a little voice (Guy) piped up from the back seat "Excusez moi! But I booked the Anglais tour!" which made us all have a good laugh and Andy come back to earth to switch to English! After lunch we went to the Museum in Chatillon which was surprisingly large and well set out. The ...

Wet day in Gigny

A travel blog entry by wearn4nz on Jul 21, 2014

It was actually quite refreshing to have an overcast rainy day to have a slow start and catch up on work and washing. Mum and I decided to pop to the Spar in Laignes our nearest village with shops about 5 mins away, but as usual had misjudged the timing and it was closed for 2 hours for lunch! Rather than return with no bread for lunch we were very adventurous and took off to Chatillon-sur-Seine (yes the same Seine running thro Paris) about 20 mins away and, ...
