... which are great to watch, but quiet and can come from all directions, so extra watchful eyes were needed today for safety.

We made our way down one of the arcades and stopped at Albert Einstein's apartment. He lived here with his family from 1903 - 1905 and it was in Bern that he came up with his revolutionary light quantum hypothesis.

Next stop was the Zytglogge, This is a tower built in the 13th century and during its time has served as a watch ...

from the nearby campsite restaurant. A long but successful day.

... steps for both the fantastic experience of the climb itself and for the great view it offers of the same high alps we saw before lunch on our hike. We are given a color Xerox sheet to use at the top to identify which mountain is which. Caron has the willies ascending so high up over the city, but she sticks with it and is able to walk the whole perimeter of the tower with some trepidation but is in a rush to get back down.
