We (I - Tom) had chosen the next destination as it was near the Bike Park of Metabief, we stayed a few nights here and got to see the World Cup Final with a group of local scouts (the campsite had a Bar / TV and had organised them to visit to watch, there were a few people off the site also including a Couple from Germany who were quite excited, I guess that'll be the closest we come to seeing the feeling of ...

... the posting-on of the two follow-on guides. The upshot was I'd have to walk alongside the main roads, relying exclusively on my road map, for a couple of days at least.

I actually made good progress in the morning and treated myself to a leisurely lunch bought at a supermarket in the first big town after I'd completed my climb.
That set me up nicely for a final 15km slog through to Ornans. I don't really care much for long stretches of road-walking but ...
