Second week in France
... until the French Revolution. It was built in the 10th century
overlooking the River Sarthe. Situated on the main road linking Alencon to Le
Mans the village benefited from a strategic position. The fortified castle
dating to the 11th century endured many sieges.
This weekend saw the 24hour motorbike race at Le Mans and on
Sunday all the locals lined the streets to watch the endless line of motorbikes
returning home. ...
It's a f***ing Otter, It's a f***ing cat!
Long long journey through central France. this journey wasn't as bad as some recently. Don't know if we've mentioned this but the AC has packed up on the car, ran out of gas most probably, and driving when its over 30 degrees means that the windows need to be down, even on the motorways, which means you have to shout to hear each other and also means that driving is exhausting. Anyway the temperature has dropped a bit now and the drive was fine.

Onto Sally & Mark's place
... expected. Very nice but lots of work to be done. Good area for walking and cycling.
They looked after us a treat and we could have stayed longer but needs must and we needed to get to Spain in time for the rally in Denia.
So we leave on Saturday 7th April heading for Saint-Cirq-Lapopie.

Starting to meet people

... The hills were ridiculous and wiped us out, I fell off again, more bruises! We got to the main road exausted after 12km of hell and realised that the big road we had avoided was not only flat, but quiet and empty! We stuck on that road and dug in to get to L'Aigle. A picnic in the sunshine by the tourist office revived us enough to cycle on to a campsite in Beaulieu which the tourist office man had telephoned for us. The last stretch was ...
The hard days
... first we just stranded their 2 hours and got no ride. After that we got a ride that brought us in the direction of Dreux. When we got a ride their to Chartres from where we got a ride to Nogent. There are we going to stay for the night to go towards Le Mans tomorrow.
