    We finally got in synch with the local meal times and soaked in the warmth of the people we met. We made our little cottage our home for a month and became familiar our hamlet, with the village squares and the unique shops in nearby Beaune.

    ... one was - ugh. We also ordered a local drink - a Rik - white wine with black current syrup. We could have chosen to have our Rik with champagne but decided not to ruin the champagne. We were delivered an unexpected savoury curry madeleine each as a starter. Then the snails were placed in front of me, in a bubbling dish with 12 holes filled with garlic butter, herbs and snails.
