Herbstmesse

... fairgrounds to check things out.

In Münsterplatz we rode the big wheel and got a nice view of the city lights reflecting on the Rhine. After our ride we just hung around a stall selling gluwein, drinking and chatting. Everywhere we went was crowded with people in good spirits and children full of sugar and excitement. Herbstmesse is a fun time in Basel!

We spent the evening with Erika, chatting and watching TV, and I surfed the net looking for ski work.

Again, I slept forever (maybe it’s the Swiss air?)and Megg Skyped home. We all walked down to the garage together, Lincoln included, with their assortment of suitcases and carry-ons. Once we managed to squeeze everything in ...

The Black Forest

This was what I really came to Europe for. Freiburg was just the beginning of an awesome adventure for me. The mountains and the forest and the cake. We caught a cable car up to the top of the mountain and wandered in the snow. Got some great photos. We made Freiburg our base and toured a fair bit around the region. Spent a night here and there and came back to Freiburg for the festival. Took about two hundred photos in two hours one day; they had a ...

... a place to stay so we slept on some benches in the train station. I was awoken by a security guard mumbling some sort of swiss french german at me. And now im updating my travel pod from Basel University next to the train station. Apparently this is one of the most famous and old universities in all of Europe. Nietzsche used to be a professor here. It is really cool and they have free internet.

Doctor Lingo - article to supplement last entry!

... to the idea that the person's brain is so tiny that a penlight shone into his mouth will make his empty head gleam like a Halloween pumpkin. Fox says he has a list of more than 200 terms used by medical practitioners in Britain, but his collection shows that doctors around the world make up their own versions. In Brazil, for instance, physicians use the acronym PIMBA for what can be translated as "swollen-footed, drunk, run-over ...
