... observation is the number of hair salons in France! every village no matter how small has at least one, usually two or three salons! Never mind an ATM machine - getting your hair done and looking good is more important!

Fougeres has a magnificent castle built on the side of the hill sloping down to the river. The builders had used the river to fill the moat and drive four water wheels that remain in use (I guess having been replaced a few times).

... day cooking while we had been out sightseeing. All courses were served with matching beautiful wines. What we thought would be a simple Sunday night meal turned out to be yet another feast. Thank you Nelly!
