... what I had suspected, that I was carrying about 5kg of excess baggage after a month in Italy. Operation boot camp has kicked in with awesome running paths along the river and the crazy prices are well timed so we have just been having 1 meal a day.

Our luck with good weather continued early on with our arrival and first full day having very clear sky and 18 degree max's which by all accounts is unseasonably warm. We spent day ...

... evening I rejoined my new friends at the bar to enjoy some American Football aka The NFL ;-) I surprised myself when I was asked to explain the sport and how the whole league works – I don’t think I realized how much I knew about football! ... at much less than 200mph. We reached the turn to Alpe D'Huez late in the afternoon and drove maybe 25 km to reach the first of the hairpin turns number 21. Every turn was so sharp that I had to drop into first gear to keep from stalling out on the subsequent rise through the next switchback and I never made it out of second gear before the next hairpin because the grade was closer to 10% than 8%. ...

... thats when i have to say I felt really disappointed. The reality is there's nothing great about Geneva. Its really just an ordinary European city, with lots of apartment buildings, dirty streets and traffic. Nothing great at all. The main part of town centered around the lake promenade is so-so, and parts of it seem a little rundown as well. We hung out for a little bit at a park near the main part of the city where some kind of summer festival was going ...
