I am pleased to report that after 13 hours of traveling (2 hours at airport before first flight, 1.5 hour flight, 5 hour layover, 8 hour flight, 1 hour at baggage claim, and a 0.5 hour bus ride), I am officially studying abroad in Geneva! My roommate, Nikki, is delightful and almost as drowsy from jet lag as I am. Our room is outfitted entirely in Ikea furniture/sheets/rolled up pillows. ... bought for the entire week on the slopes!! They were happy and pretty awesome on the flight and through the airports. We arrived late and took the shuttle over the border to France and stayed at the Novotel. Dinner was late and we didn't get the kids to bed until midnight. They were so amazed by the tiny patches of snow when we arrived, it made them very excited, so after dinner it took a little while to calm them down.
... are these not as prolific in the world as chocolate chip cookies!? Matthew didn't object when I suggested that we stockpile enough macaroons to carry us through the rest of our holiday.
Before departing for the rest of our itinerary, we walked along the lake and stopped over the Pont des Amours (Lover's Bridge) to take in the crisp beauty of the sheltered scenery. If this place was any indication, I could already tell that I was going to love the Alps!

We went back to the hotel, had a bit of a nap and than went for a walk to find dinner.I had Magret de Canard with tagliatelle (Duck breast and sort of thick spaghetti). It was okay. Hubby had Calzone and he said it was good. Other than that we were back at the hotel fairly early but not to sleep as hubby watched Die Hard in French on TV. It was so late by the time I fell asleep.
