... drive to Arcachon and the Dune du Pyla. The journey didn't take very long - about an hour and a half. On the way, we stopped off at a Super U but it was very very busy. All the aisles were jam packed so it took me and Mum a while to get around to get everything we needed. Today we spent the whole day at the Lac. However, we didn't go down until later as it was very hot in the midday sun (as you can see, Dad fell asleep in the sun, big mistake.) ... driving turned out to be a wine filled evening full of laughs.... Plus a lot of olives. Monday was Bastille day, so we headed to the nearest big-ish town, Royan, for dinner and to watch the fireworks. The rest of the week was basically as described up front... Sun, food and wine... ... left the atlantic and today we start the river Gironde.
At present we are anchored waiting for the tide to turn the girls are having a siesta! And I am taking shots at any jet skisers that come close.
We made great time to pauillac sailing all the way averaging about 7.5 knots with the spinnaker up for over 20 miles I had to do 6 or 7 gybes, long time since I've been so close to the front of the boat.
