... After last night's debacle, I did some early work on the ipad, and found a camp that read well, right on the shore of Lake Garda.... I must admit, it wasn't difficult as I think there was a choice of close to 50 - seriously.
So, with an early start, we arrived early, hit the supermarket, and then checked in, and was able to secure a spot literally right on the water-front, with ...

... this morning and arrived at the CAF Refuge Les Contamines about 3:30 pm, hot and tired! Our hiking time was about 5 1/2 hours. This was one of our 4 long days - 18 kilometers ( About 10.5 miles). My feet were very happy to be out of the hiking boots! It is unusually hot here. But, we are happy it is dry. Apparently that was not the case until a few days ago and we have been told that ...

Day 3 We left our comfy lodging and walked uphill but only for a kilometre before we then hit the snow and started going down hill. The small drifts weren't too bad to get across, but the longer ones were easier if you sort of skied/skated down. I fell back into the snow a few times, but it was pretty soft, I was ...

... with 2 double bunks with Monica and Neil. The showers are amazingly hot, and so far we have had no blisters, injuries or sore muscles. We even taught a few of our group how to play Crowns, even though they couldn't speak English. We also met an Iranian couple, in their late 20's, who are both engineers working in Norway. As different as we think these people are, they are just like us. I had met them on the trail, while I was walking with ...

... fashioned, but comfortable enough. Once checked in and showered we walked around the village to weigh up our evening meal options. There weren't many! We found a small bistro, just about the only place open on a cold, damp Monday evening, and ordered pasta, cep, a pitcher of local wine and some chocolate roulade to finish.

We wanted to make an early start the next day as we had a 100 km to cycle, including a lot of climbing, so we were early to ...
