Drove to Flensburg and had a lovely day at this charming port town. A great shopping area with lots of churches. I should have mentioned our car as we come to the end of our driving trip tomorrow. We ( meaning Ron) have driven over 2400 km on the German autobahns reaching speeds of 170 km legally. The roads were good (except for road works) the drivers were good as well. Trucks stayed at the same speed in the slow lane. When we had to merge everyone took it in ...

... it was not. Pete's grandfather was captured by the Russians and escaped. Eckharts wife Gudren fled with her mom and brother from upper Germany, which is now part of Russia. They walked many miles to catch a boat to safety but they missed that boat. That particular boat was torpedoed that night and sank with 9000 people on board. ... which was of course a pleasant surprise. Anna had a large trundle bed, right at the balcony, which gave her a great view from bed. Being so far north, it never got completely dark at night and, luckily, the black-out curtains kept the VERY EARLY morning sun from coming in every day.
