Paris, Our Favourite City

DAY 37 WED Paris, France, here we come! Driving to Paris was not as traumatic an experience as we had feared. The girl in the tourist office in Sens had told us that if we followed the signs to Lille we would be able to negotiate the complicated ring road system around Paris and find the airport with little difficulty. This was almost true, though we did get a little tense during the final stages when we were within kilometres of Aérogare 1 and had to stop at a service station and join a queu...

Wee wee are in Paris!!

Hi all, We are on the next country of our tour in the rather rainy Paris (finally after our plane from Barcelona was delayed by 3 hours!) We have had another busy day today visiting the Notre Dame Catherdral, which was truely amazing, followed by a visit to the Bastille and their famous and overwhelming Sunday markets. We had a spot of lunch at st. George's Square and then off to the impressive Picasso museum, boy could he wave a brush around!! Rather oddly, we found a fake beach in the middl...

A million miles later!!

Hello again folks, Well have we been busy or what! Today saw the mammoth task of seeing every street, shop catherdral and landmark in Paris! We started with a trip to the very confusing Garde De Lyon station to book our tickets for Lyon tommorrow. Steven Hawking would have difficulty working out how to buy tickets in France!! We then set off on one of numerous metro journeys and found ourselves at the wonderful La Defense, a gorgeous business park (if there is such a thing!) The views here we...

Cheap and cheerful

from A TripAdvisor Member
I went to Pais last week with five other girls on a hen week-end. We were quite wary due to the price but were very pleasantly suprised. The rooms were very clean and not a bad size. Location was ideal as we took train from airport to almost outside the hotel door. The Pantheon, Luxembourg gardens and Notre Damne were all only a short walk away. Hotel staff were very friendly and Definately going to return with hubby soon!

Great little hotel

Was very happy with this hotel, especially for the price. Location was very good. Only a few minutes walk down to the Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens and a few minutes more to all the restaurants in the Quartier Latin. Having nearest metro stop on the RER B line was a big bonus as no changes from CDG airport and not much walking from the metro to the hotel. Room was very clean, well furnished and a good size by French standards. We chose the larger of the double rooms which offered a full bath. Quite a good bathroom - not too small at all. Had a nice little balcony overlooking Blvd St. Michel. Our original booking was only for 2 nights and when we asked to stay longer they said they were full up but would find us somewhere else to stay themselves. As it turned out they were having difficulty finding us another hotel so they reorganised all their own room allocations so that we were able to stay another few nights. The day staff were very good but the night staff were not so good.

Fantastic!!!!

We came to paris for our honeymoon, finding Hotel des Mines on a website. We didnt know what to expect - being so cheap - but what a fantastic discovery!!! Very clean, close to everything, and the staff were very helpful, friendly and courteous. We went to Spain after that, and returned to Paris and stayed there again. i got very sick in Spain and on returning to Paris the staff were very concerned, and being from so ffar away, made me feel so much at home. We will definitely stay again and have told everybody we know who is going to Paris to stay there.

Fantastically Cheap

This hotel was great for a bargain trip to Paris. It was clean and basic which is all you need when you are out sight seeing all day. It is situated a two minute walk from the Metro, which you can take from the airport direct to the hotel.

I would reccommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a cheap comfortable place to use as a base in the centre of Paris.
