... Foreign in its rhythm and still all too familiar.

A week spent snorkelling, idly swimming, lying on rocks that warmed our hearts, staring without intent at a horizon vacant of white caps, admiring the super highway of yachts, collecting rocks that were abandoned at the end of the day.

Haute Corte. Forever in our hearts and forever grateful we will be.

... beautiful walks and plenty of forest
greenery in the way of beeches and chestnut trees. Very scenic drives with
plunging gorges, jagged spiny mountains with roads and small hilltop villages clinging
for a precarious hold. One holds one breath and does not look over the side of
the roads!

... then headed off to explore the shopping centre and inland sea south of Bastia. My pedal got looser and looser, even though John kept tightening it up. All that one legged pedalling Brett had us doing at spin classes, was finally paying off, as I tried to pedal just with my left leg, and not put any pressure on the right pedal. It was hot, and there were small creeks running down the inside of my clothes. By the time we were back on the outskirts of Bastia it had fallen off ...

... these old towns. The buildings have been there since the 1400's, even the new ones were built in the 1600's. There were little cafes, shops etc in little laneways and stairwells. We bought some supplies from the deli and had a beautiful picnic down at our little beach. The nights are lovely, although the days are a bit hot.
