... Chateau de Chenonceau. This one was Mummy's favourite. It looked like the Disneyland castle! After walking through a beautiful grove, Ben noticed 2 statutes that looked Egyptian. As well as having a castle that was beautiful (home to 5 French Queens), it had excellent gardens with beautiful fountains. Ben and Jon had fun running through the gardens. After all this, it was finally time to drive to our hotel in Tours for a well earned ...

... restored, but with very modern facilities. We have the attic room, with sloping ceilings, exposed beams, Sky light, dormer windows and a BATH !!!! We are in heaven. After another delicious lunch from the patisserie, we toured the beautiful chateau sitting at the entrance to town and surrounded by a substantial moat. The interior did not disappoint either. The craftsmanship is amazing, even more incredible when we discovered it was built in the 13 th ...

... had started) pulling a trailer-like contraption with a soft canopy that looked a bit like a flimsy gypsy caravan. His expedition seemed a little more adventurous than a pilgrimage in a VW Kombi. Apparently he wasn't sure how long it would take him and looked as if he didn't have a care in the world. A nice happy go lucky young man out there living his dream - good luck to him!
