Woke up to another rainy day in Paris. We had to be ready for Elen to show up at 10:30 to give her the keys and say goodbye to our Parisien apartment. Called our first Uber, and he showed up right away to take us to Gare du Lyons. Found a Starbucks just inside the station. E failed to get any lunch as we discovered that 11:11 is a bank holiday in France and everywhere was closed! So we arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm and were starving! We checked in and the owner kindly provided us with pate and bread and a glass of red....perfect!
Going to Lyon came about mainly from the desire to go to le famous French/Swiss/whatever Alpes in the east of the country, on the way south towards Nice...'France's third-largest city there, might as well go and see'. France's 'gastronomic capital' too even though that's sort-of just code for we-cook-all-the-meat-types-and-more there should be a bit to eat and do, then go to the mountains for some ...
... get access to the building and unfortunately once inside found that the lift was broken so we had to lug all the bags up the three flights of stairs while Marty was illegally parked outside.
Then we set about returning our rental car to the main train station and catching the metro back to our apartment. By the time we got all that done it was about 4.30 pm so time for a beer and some potato chips.

This next week is midterms so I've been studying but next weekend I have 4 events to go to. 1 musical show (not exactly sure what it entails), a early cinema concert, a dance festival prep night, and the opera. I'll tell you more about this weekend in its own separate post.
