... this has become somewhat of an annual pilgrimage, usually to the Istrian peninsula and Rovinj which we love, but this year we have decided to venture a little further afield and take the coast road as far south as Dubrovnik, poking our nose into Montenegro to visit another of the 14 villages in Europe called Malta and then making our way back overland through part ...

So today was an example of how wonderful my husband Craig really is. Many years ago in 1983 when we Eurailed our way around Europe our train stopped at a pretty place called Zell am See in Austria. Christine turned out to be a fabulous tour guide and her experience, enthusiasm and insights justified the high rating of the tour. (I could even get over the fact I was on a tour bus with 30 other people ...

    Hitler's Eagle's Next

A travel blog entry by judyinocala on Sep 10, 2014

Today we are back in Oberammergau with two choices of activities. One group will enjoy a quiet day exploring Oberammergau, and others will choose to go again to the Austrian border, high up in the mountains, to visit Hitler's Alpen retreat called the Eagle's Nest. The weather threatens to make the trip pointless, but Dave is very interested in World War II and has been looking forward to visiting this place. So he and some others decided to take the chance. ...
