... became clear that he hadn't actually died, his bodyguard smothered him with a pillow!

The villa itself was huge and they're still excavating it, but you can clearly see the layout of the central courtyard, individual rooms, a couple of bread ovens and the gymnasium.

The grotto is a natural sea cave that the Romans adapted to display statues and built walls to create ...

Vino, vino, vino exactly since we visited three wineries today On an organized bus tour - 2 of which Brett and I had not been to before. Orvieto's Duomo(cathedral) has Italy's liveliest facade (from 1330), thanks to architect Lorenzo Maitani and many others. Why such an impressive church in a little town? Because of a blood-stained cloth. In the 1260s, a skeptical priest — who doubted that the bread used in communion ...

... pope who would focus on North and South America?

*should the new pope push the church to focus on souls more than politics. Less structure, and more presence on the ground, here with the people?

All these remain unanswered for now but I do like how well protected and respected Pope Benedict has been treated since his resignation. Regardless of the why he left/ resigned, Gods people are called to love one another and treat each other as they themselves ...
