Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Not quite.

A travel blog entry by jessielewcock on Dec 14, 2014

Up very early this morning for our drive day. It's pretty overcast so our good run of nice weather and the mini-summer we've had in Italy after the cold of Switzerland and rain in Paris might just be ending. Our last experience of Rome traffic wasn't so bad, but it has been absolute chaos of an even more extreme level than Paris most of the time. Everyone has to drive tiny little cars because of the massive congestion just to squeeze through anywhere, and SmartCars are very popular. ...

      With a short mileage to
cover today, we would make the most of it and visit Verona. Our fist
stop was a Harley Davidson dealer on the outskirts of the town. It
was a pretty big dealership with plenty of Harley branded bits –
not just bikes but barbecues, chairs and all sorts of expensive stuff
for the enthusiast. It began to rain a bit as we rode away into the
city, which was busy but not manic. We managed to find a motorcycle
      parking ...

      Without such a rush
today and the weather being a bit wet, we walked back to the ferry
jetty to catch a boat to Desanzano to the west and on the southern
shore. This was another larger town with a marina again. The
weather just was not inviting today and put a dampener on our walk
around the town. We enjoyed a coffee in a pedestrianised street but
decided not to wait for a later ferry but to return to Sirmione on
      the ...

... We looked at a few menu boards but were not really impressed
either way, being surrounded by tourists all trying to savour the
same atmosphere. We walked along a side street and immediately found
a much more attractive little restaurant, obviously a family run
affair with just the feel we were looking for. The food was
excellent – seafood pasta for me and rabbit tagliatelli for Jayne.
The evening stroll back to the hotel worked off our meal.
