Trying to reach the city center I ended up at a bus stop. After a while, I started to suspect no more busses would be coming, and I asked a passing woman about this. She confirmed my fears and asked me where I was going. When she found out that I had nowhere in particular to go she grabbed my arm and brought me to her home, where she gave me some dinner and let me stay the night. ... snorted their drink through their nose from laughing! We proceeded to the square where the famous Pizza Della Signoria and was able to see the reproduction of David, statues, fountains and the famous palace. Although we were tired it became a nice walk. Florence is very big and cars are not allowed into the city without a permit..so we will be doing a lot of walking! Home at 1130 again! Have to be up early for our tour ...
... only spent about 30 minutes in there, but plan on going back several times, because I feel like I will see something new each time.
I really could go on for hours about Duomo, but let's just suffice it to say it is amazing. As is the entire city so far.
As of now, I am just trying to dry out, and rest up, so I can run to a grocery store and stock up on a little bit of food.

... a one bedroom rental. It was a very dark and small house and I can now tell you to avoid at all costs staying anywhere near an old church in this country, the bells ring every half hour from 7am till midnight which becomes quite annoying if you want to sleep during those hours. I had also somehow managed to pick up yet another annoying sickness so I spent the week coughing, sneezing and trying to sleep in between the ringing of the bells.
