... two days here we decided to take a train into the next big city. When we got to the train station we found that the next train was a two hour wait. Needless to say we didn't wait but walked back to the church and had a look around the crypt.
The campsite is small but has very new facilities. Pete found a very informative sign on the back of the toilet door, I told him he should try out the all of the pictures! ...

... that include the arsenal and the corderie are on the banks of the Charente river. Over the centuries several hundred ships were constructed here as the French Empire established its territories and protected its interests at sea.

The main buildings of the corderie are in the process of being fully restored.

Really quaint little fishing huts and fishing ...

... we went into town again and wandered around the streets. I also went to the Aquarium which was pretty impressive.

In the evening we enjoyed dinner (which included foraged samphire) in the cockpit and waited for the Bastille Day fireworks - which were really great.

... the ball. Everyone was is good humour and enjoyed their game, even encouraging Bella to come and talk to them, of course she wouldn't have anything to do with them, but she did still want their ball. I was tempted to stay for the night as it was so peaceful there but decided that I would make a move further south.
