    We left our camp in Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, this morning in more light drizzle and hit the A1 straight away to get out of town.
    After almost an hour on the motorway, Treas said she wanted to get off the big roads and onto some smaller roads, in the anticipation that we might enjoy another trip like that down the Mosel valley...
    So we peeled off the main drag and into an "aire" where I reprogrammed George to exclude ...

    The Porte Sainte-Croix dated 1769 was dedicated to Marie-Antoinette and almost felt like you were in Paris!.

    On Thursday July 17 Stan biked into Vitry-le-Francois and picked up a rental car. He drove back to the boat and we packed a suitcase and computer and book reading devices into the car, put everything away, tied Encore up with 3 mooring stakes and two lines to a huge steel bollard, and drove away. It was rather like leaving your child with a babysitter for the first time. Is she really going to be OK?

    ... lovely fireworks display, which was going on right outside our windows while we were watching the first extra time period of the World Cup final. Nice timing all around.


    There was also a building there a bit down the canal with the sign Musee-Patton painted on the wall, an American WWII tank out front, a sentry box, some slide up doors with the US Army stars painted on them, and a sign out front saying something about Welcome to General ...

    ... they had to get around obstacle courses and were judged on how well they did it. When our team finished we left and went home. We lit the fire as it was a bit chilly (quite a change from the previous week!) and played a game of Jungle Speed and Uno and Yahtzee. After the games we watched the soccer.�� And Netherlands beat Mexico 2-1�� Love ...
