... going to climb 6,000 vertical feet. The majority of this route was going to follow the same route the pro riders were going to be doing in the afternoon.

We had about a 30 min van ride into the town of St Jean de Maurienne. From here we unloaded our vans and began our ride. Since the Tour was coming through the town we had to ride on some sidewalks and dodge pedestrians due to so many road closures. After a super short 1/2-mile warm-up it was time to climb. Today we ...

... riding around here for the last few days I use “only” and “3-mile climb” in the same sentence.

I was feeling pretty good so I really pushed the pace. Our ride leader and a guy from Colombia were ahead but pretty soon everyone else was behind me. ... Epine, which was 4.2 miles long
with an avg % incline of 7.2%. Definitely a way to wake you up in the morning! From
here we did a medium length decent and began the long grind up the Col de la
Croix-Fer. The incline wasn’t too bad but it sure was long! It took us a good
60-90 minutes (with a few rest stops) to get to the top. From here there were
some amazing views of the surrounding mountains. We had a picnic lunch at the
top and took a good ...

Anyway, I got to the start line on time - dead straight forward, I found my group easily Unfortunately Chris and I were in different start groups I was in group 3 and Chris was in group 12 with a 1hr start difference.
