... Montreux Jazz festival is on so it was quite packed. We saw a few of the touristy things to see, like the Freddy Mercury statue and the Grand Swiss Hotel where Smoke on the Water was written and recorded. The first thing that I noticed when we got to the cheese factory was that there were hundreds of cheeses in a room that was behind glass. After a little waiting we started the tour. They explained how they turned the milk into cheese and how that once they got the first stage they had to let it sit ...

It was time for lunch and the Rampart restaurant was calling me.  Just wonderful food!  I chose the soup so that I would have room for dessert, and it was a heavenly vegetable and bean soup with Gruyere cheese and croutons and really hit my craving for vegetables.  It was time to have what apparently you have to have in Gruyeres (before you think I am spelling inconsistently the village has an s and the ...
